Who Else? - Youth Action for the Environment

About the project

For over 10 years, the Who Else? project has been promoting project-based education in elementary and secondary schools all over the Czech Republic. Education through hands-on experience encourages youngsters to believe in themselves and their action which can make the world around them a better place.

Our project offers support to students to:

  • Take interest in the world around them,

  • Take action,

  • and create own projects.

According to our research, only 28% of youngsters believe their actions can bring change. However, our experience proves most students have brilliant ideas and they just need to be provided with some encouragement, appropriate tools and support. Who else? helps students realize that they can take action and become agents of change, no need for them to wait to “grow up”.

In the years 2022 – 2024, we want to encourage students to take action in favour of the environment and sustainability.

Planned activities

Thanks to the support of the State Environmental Fund of the Czech Republic and the Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic, from 2022 do 2024, we plan to:

  • Support up to 50 students to develop competences through team projects, enabling them to take action in favour of the environment and sustainability;

  • Support up to 20 teachers to develop skills in project-based environmental education;

  • Raise awareness of climate protection and sustainable lifestyle through peer-to-peer learning up to 300 students;

  • Raise awareness of youth action for the environment through inspiration events up to 120 youngsters and teachers;

  • Promote active approach towards the environment and climate protection and sustainability through best practice examples;

  • Award youngsters taking action in favour of the environment through the Gratias Tibi Award.

In general, we hope to get youngsters ready for a lifelong journey of engagement and solidarity, and equip them with competences needed in an ever-changing world.
