The educational video game reveals the stories of ordinary people who contributed to the fall of the communist regime. In five game chapters, players embark on a journey through a country in turmoil, encountering key moments of the Velvet Revolution. They become direct participants in environmental protests in Teplice, experience the moments before the intervention on Národní třída, attend demonstrations in České Budějovice and on Letná Plain, and witness the general strike in Ostrava. Not only in the crowded squares do they search for and listen to those who decided to speak out and take to the streets. The characters share not only their personal motivations and fears but also the story of the city and stage of the Velvet Revolution in which they find themselves. Hand-drawn characters and scenes are complemented by archival video footage, placing the game within a historical reality. Velvet 89 belongs to the genre of "hidden object" games and was created in collaboration with the award-winning game studio Charles Games.
Additional materials are currently available in the Czech version of the audiovisual lesson; we will gradually add them to this site as well.
Notice: Switch the language to English on the main page/menu of the game.
