Today’s society is becoming increasingly dependent on electronics. Millions of new models of smartphones, tablets, and laptops are sold each year, but the processes used to manufacture them are highly toxic. The health of workers is constantly under threat due to the aggressive chemicals that are used. They die from new types of cancer and often have children who are born with birth defects. Despite this, manufacturers try to conceal this information and thwart lawsuits, and instead of looking for solutions they institute practices that force people to buy new products. This leads to an increase in electronic waste, which cannot be safely liquidated. The investigative film reveals a problem of global dimensions, which may have fatal consequences for the environment and for the health of us all. The production of electronic devices is a significant contributor to environmental pollution (particularly in developing countries).
