Lesson objectives

  1. To address the sensitive topic of anorexia or other eating disorders
  2. To raise awareness of the importance of a healthy self-image
  3. To reflect on how to overcome difficult times in life

This intimate film shows anorexia not in the form of shockingly skinny characters, but primarily as a psychological disorder in which the main battle is fought in the minds of the sufferers. "Living with anorexia is like living with someone else's brain," says the main character Arley. Doctors diagnosed her with anorexia three years ago. Since then, she has walked a long and tortuous road to recovery. She's not at the end of it yet, but the diary entries she made during the worst times of her illness, which seemed to shut down her ability to experience, now seem hard to understand. The pilgrimage from the psychological bottom would never have been successful without the devoted support of Arley's mother, father and sister, and as the girl's soul heals, the whole family comes back to life.
